(Kingston, NY) – In Legislative Session on Tuesday the Ulster County Legislature unanimously approved Resolution No. 97, declaring April as Parkinson’s Awareness Month. Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive disorder which breaks down the nerve cells in the brain, leading to motor impairment as well as cognitive decline. Over 90,000 Americans are diagnosed with Parkinson’s every year, and the disease is the 14th highest leading cause of death in the United States.
(Kingston, NY) – Beginning in May, Legal Services of the Hudson Valley (LSHV) will provide additional eviction counseling services through the establishment of two new positions made possible through an allocation of $200,000 by the Ulster County Legislature. Made possible through American Rescue Plan Act funding this program will come at no cost to Ulster County.
(Kingston, NY) – During its March Session, the Ulster County Legislature adopted Resolution No. 11, which will ask permission of the State for the County to raise the occupancy tax on overnight rentals in the County. The current levy, also known as the bed tax, was set at 2% in 1991.
