Chair Bartels Appoints Peter Criswell as Vice Chair of the Ulster County Legislature and Legislators Gina Hansut and Chris Hewitt to Lead the Ulster County Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee

Chair Bartels Appoints Peter Criswell as Vice Chair of the Ulster County Legislature and as a member of the Ways & Means Committee

(Kingston, NY)—Legislative Chair Tracey Bartels has announced the appointment of Legislator Peter Criswell (District 7, City of Kingston) as the Vice Chair of the Ulster County Legislature. Legislator Criswell replaces former Vice Chair Eve Walter (District 16, Village & Town of New Paltz), who stepped down from the Ulster County Legislature on April 22, 2023. Legislator Peter Criswell has also been appointed to serve as a member of the Ulster County Ways and Means Committee, replacing former Legislator Eve Walter.

Legislator Criswell currently chairs the American Rescue Plan Act Special Committee. He is also a member of the Economic Development, Planning, Education, Employment, Arts and Agriculture Committee; and the Committee of the Whole. During his first term in office (2020–2021), Legislator Criswell served as the Deputy Chair of the Public Health and Social Services Committee.

Chair Bartels also appoints Legislators Gina Hansut and Chris Hewitt to Lead the Ulster County Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee

Chair Bartels has appointed Legislator Gina Hansut (District 10, Towns of Lloyd and Marlborough) as the Chair of the Ulster County Law Enforcement Committee, replacing Legislator Eve Walter. Chair Bartels appointed Legislator Chris Hewitt (District 21, Towns of Rochester and Wawarsing) as the committee’s new Deputy Chair. 

Chair Bartels states, “Legislator Gina Hansut has served as the Deputy Chair of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee and I am confident of her ability to step into this role. Legislator Chris Hewitt has served on this committee his entire tenure and is an excellent leadership partner.”

Legislator Hansut also serves as the Deputy Chair of the Energy, Environment and Sustainability Committee. Legislator Hewitt serves on the Economic Development, Planning, Education, Employment, Arts and Agriculture Committee. Both Legislators are members of the Committee of the Whole.
