Chair of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Eve Walter, and Deputy Chair Gina Hansut offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Department of Probation; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Probation administers the Crime Victims Assistance Program (“CVAP”) which provides services and aid to all victims and witnesses of crime in Ulster County; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of the Ulster County Department of Probation requests that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute a contract with the New York State Office of Victim Services (“OVS”) to receive funding in the amount of $2,550,019.32 for the Victims of Crime Act (“VOCA”) grant for the term beginning on October 1, 2022 and ending on September 30, 2025; and

 

WHEREAS, the funds will be used exclusively to continue and enhance the services offered to crime victims of Ulster County provided by CVAP; and

 

WHEREAS, the source of the funds is 100% Federal (CFDA# 16.575); and

 

WHEREAS, no additional County contribution or matching funding is required other than what has been budgeted; now, therefore, be it 

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute a contract (OVS01-C11402GG-1080200) and any amendments thereto with the New York State Office of Victim Services for the VOCA grant in the amount of $2,550,019.32 for the term beginning on October 1, 2022 and ending on September 30, 2025, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney and Legislative Counsel,

 

and moves its adoption.
