Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Abe Uchitelle, and Deputy Chair Gina Hansut offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Department of Probation; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Probation administers the Crime Victims Assistance Program which aids victims and witnesses of crime; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Probation has been awarded funding from the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence in the amount of $170,388 which will provide the continued services for the Ulster County Crime Victims Assistance Program’s (CVAP) Enough is Enough program; and

 

WHEREAS, the source of funds is 100% State revenue; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Ulster County Probation has requested that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute a contract (PDV01-C00154GG-1310000) with the NYS OPDV to receive funding under the Enough is Enough initiative in the amount of $170,388 for the period beginning May 1, 2022 and ending April 30, 2025; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Probation will receive funding in the amount of $56,796.00 annually which will be utilized to partially fund the salary of the incumbent Crime Victim Counselor/Educator who oversees the Enough is Enough program; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute and sign a contract and any amendments thereto, pertaining to the contract (PDV01-C00154GG-1310000) with the NYS OPDV for the period beginning May 1, 2022 and ending April 30, 2025, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature, or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney in consultation with the Chair of the Legislature and the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee; and be it further

 

 

RESOLVED, that if funding for this service is inadequate or discontinued, then the service and/or positions will be eliminated as well,

 

and move its adoption.
