Chairman of the Legislative Programs, Education and Community Services Committee, James Delaune, and Deputy Chair Thomas Corcoran, offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Ulster County Office for the Aging; and

 

            WHEREAS, the New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) has notified Ulster County that funding for the 2021-2022 Federal Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) program is available in the amount of $21,112.00; and

 

            WHEREAS, the goal of the MIPPA program is for outreach and assistance with Medicare Part D beneficiaries in rural areas, and for activities related to the promotion and distribution of information on Medicare preventative and wellness services; and

 

            WHEREAS, the term for the MIPPA program year is September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2022; and

 

WHEREAS, if the County’s application is approved, the funds will be used to reimburse the County for MIPPA expenditures incurred by the Ulster County Office for the Aging, including: salaries, benefits, and contractual costs; and

 

            WHEREAS, the Director of the County’s Office for the Aging requests that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute the MIPPA Application, with required assurances, and any amendments, for the term beginning September 1, 2021 and ending August 31, 2022; now, therefore, be it

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

            RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute the application with required assurances, and any amendments thereto, with the New York State Office for the Aging for the MIPPA program, for the term beginning September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2022, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature, or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney,     

 

and moves its adoption.
