Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Mary Beth

Maio, and Deputy Chair Julius Collins offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the Ulster County Sheriff’s

Office; and

 WHEREAS, the Ulster County Board of Cooperative Educational Services

has requested a Deputy Sheriff be assigned as a School Resource Officer (SRO) at

locations as requested by the District; and

 

 WHEREAS, Ulster County Board of Cooperative Educational Services will

pay Ulster County an amount not less than $49,186.99 for the services of an existing

part-time Deputy Sheriff assigned as the School Resource Officer; and

WHEREAS, the term of the agreement shall be July 1, 2018 through June 30,

2019; now, therefore, be it

 RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby

authorized to sign an agreement, and any amendments thereto, with the Ulster

County Board of Cooperative Educational Services to provide a Deputy Sheriff to

serve as a School Resource Officer for the term July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019,

in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified

with the approval of the County Attorney in consultation with the Chairman of the

Legislature and the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Law Enforcement and Public

Safety Committee; and, be it further

RESOLVED, that if funding for this program is eliminated, the

program/positions will be eliminated as well,

and moves its adoption.
