Referred to: The Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning and Transit
Committee (Chairman Maloney and Legislators Berky, Delaune, Lapp, Litts, Maio
and Rodriguez), The Public Works and Capital Projects Committee (Chairman
Fabiano and Legislators Greene, Litts, Loughran, and Maloney), and The Ways and
Means Committee (Chairman Gerentine and Legislators Allen, Bartels, Belfiglio,
Briggs, Maio, and Maloney)
Chairman of the Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning, and Transit
Committee, James F. Maloney, and Deputy Chairman Hector Rodriguez offer the
following:
WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on
behalf of Ulster County Area Transportation Department; and
WHEREAS, the project will replace two existing 30’ diesel fuel buses with
over 540,000 miles with 2 30’ low floor biodiesel buses and provide funding for the
purchase of one (1) gas cutaway bus to provide senior and disabled transportation
service for the County of Ulster; and
WHEREAS, the approved 2016 – 2021 Capital Improvement Program
includes a project “Mandatory Replacement - Buses” in the amount of $6,558,000.00
for such project; and
WHEREAS, such buses will be used by UCAT to provide public mass
transportation service for the County of Ulster; and
WHEREAS, the total estimated capital cost for the purchase of two (2) 30
foot buses is $800,000.00 with funding sources of 80% Federal ($640,000.00), 10%
State ($80,000), and 10% Local ($80,000); and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 235 of April, 2016 authorized the Chairman to
accept funding for the purchase of one cutaway bus; and
WHEREAS, the total capital cost for the purchase of one (1) cutaway bus is
$49,387.00 with funding sources of $39,510.00 Federal funds and $9,877.00 Local
funds; now, therefore, be it;
RESOLVED, that Capital Project No. 490, Purchase of Mass Transit Buses is
hereby established; and, be it further
RESOLVED, that the 2016 Ulster County Capital Fund Budget is hereby
amended as follows:
