Chairman of the Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning, and Transit

Committee, Thomas J. Briggs, and Deputy Chairman James F. Maloney offer the

following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Ulster County Department of Public Transportation; and

WHEREAS, Ulster County is a designated recipient of Section 5307 and

Section 5311 funds from New York State and the Federal Transit Administration;

and

WHEREAS, Ulster County Area Transit (UCAT) is submitting a request for a

consolidated grant of funds to the New York State Department of Transportation,

pursuant to Section 5311, Title 49 United States Code, for the purchase of one (1)

low floor 30’ diesel bus to replace a vehicle that has reached its useful life for the

2015/2016 fiscal year; and

WHEREAS, the application requires the signature of the Chief Elected

Officer; and

WHEREAS, such bus will be used by UCAT to provide public transportation

service for the County of Ulster; and

WHEREAS, Ulster County and the State of New York have entered into a

continuing agreement which authorizes the undertaking of bus purchases and the

guarantee of payment by the State Federal Share for such buses used in rural areas of

Ulster County; and

WHEREAS, the total estimated cost of these capital purchases is $250,000

with funding sources of 80% Federal ($200,000), 10% State ($25,000), and 10%

Local ($25,000); now, therefore, be it 

 

RESOLVED, that the Ulster County Executive is hereby authorized to execute

an agreement and any amendments thereto, with the New York State Department of

Transportation to apply for and accept funding of New York State and Federal funds

for the purchase of one diesel low floor bus in the amount of $250,000.00 for fiscal

year 2015/2016, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature

or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney; and, be it further

RESOLVED, if funding for this project is eliminated, the project will be

eliminated as well,

and move its adoption.
